Damage to your luggage in transit is a real threat. Your carriers are obligated to look after your personal belongings whilst in their possession but the process of claiming and justification is a tedious and frustrating one.
Our KlapProof Guarantee removes all of these issues to give you peace-of-mind. We’ve purposefully selected 3 ranges of luggage that we know are up for the challenge of travel. In a nutshell, we will:
- REPAIR: These products are unique moulds and have customised fittings that we hold spares of. In most cases, we’ll be able to repair it for you on the spot, back to full working order at no charge
- REPLACE: In the unusual event of a full catastrophic failure that can’t be repaired, your luggage gets replaced at no charge – even if it is not your fault.
- COSTS: A 12-month or 24-month subscription can be purchased.
- CLAIM: In the event of a claim, you can drop off personally in-store or request a courier pickup. Some services may incur partial delivery charges.
We’ve heard decade’s worth of horror stories from our customers regarding carrier damage and a purposefully difficult claims process with many limitations, often leading to an unsatisfactory end. Choose one of our KlapProof products and remove all the hassle.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Warranties only cover manufacturing defects whereas the KlapProof guarantee covers real-life travel damage. This is important because damage caused by your carrier will not be covered under your product warranty but with KlapProof, there is no argument.
You can purchase either a 12-month subscription or 24-month. Within that time, your luggage is covered from the date of purchase.
- R199 for a 12-month subscription
- R299 for a 24-month subscription
- Structural Damage: zips, wheels, handles, locks, case cracks - anything with prevents your suitcase from working as it should even if damaged by a 3rd party
- Repair or replace: if your case cannot be repaired it will be replaced*
- Products: KlapProof is only applicable to products selected by Luggage Warehouse. Currently this is Zip2, Soda and Enduro 2.0 PP from the BG Berlin range.
- Cosmetic damage (scratches, scuffs, dents etc) that has no bearing on the functional use of the suitcase
- Damage to your contents
- Repair or replacement outside of South Africa. We can only carry out our services within SA borders. Please follow regular protocol with your carriers for any damage at your destination - we will assist on your return
- KlapProof is not transferable between customers
We've chose these products because they are proven and customised. Despite all our planning, sometimes parts may not be available - especially if the parts require colour-matching. In these instances some options will be offered to you in the following order of priority:
- Luggage Warehouse will order the required spare parts from Europe to repair your suitcase at our cost. There will be a waiting period for this to be airfreighted.
- If you need to travel urgently within this waiting period, Luggage Warehouse will offer you a suitable loan suitcase for your trip matched to similar dimensions of your own luggage. Your repaired luggage will be available when ready.
- Catastrophic failures that cannot be repaired will be replaced with the same size within the range. Should your original colour not be available, an alternative colour can be chosen.
- Should you not be satisfied with the alternative colours on offer, a similar size from the alternative KlapProof products may be chosen with your guarantee period remaining valid.
- Should you not wish to replace your luggage with an alternative from the Luggage Warehouse KlapProof collection, an alternative from our store can be selected of similar price and function. The options on offer are at the sole discretion of Luggage Warehouse and remaining period on your KlapProof subscription will be voided.
- ONLINE: add KlapProof to your order for applicable products on checkout. Your details will be automatically captured in our database and a confirmation email sent to you.
- IN-STORE: Quickly register with our QR code on your phone, filling in details of your purchase and a picture of your till slip. A confirmation email will be sent to you on completion.
The only time an extra cost will be incurred is if Luggage Warehouse is required to pick up your damaged suitcase from your premises or deliver it as a special request. For clarity:
- WALK-IN: visit any of our stores and drop off the luggage for inspection. If we can't repair on the spot then we will contact you to collect. NO CHARGES.
- COLLECTION: Luggage Warehouse can collect your luggage from your premises. You will be charged for this service according to the size and volumetric weight of the luggage. We will return your repaired/replaced luggage to you at NO CHARGE.
- DELIVERY: Should special delivery be required outside of these options then you will be charged according to the size and volumetric weight of the luggage delivered to your premises.
If any of these charged services are required then a quote will be sent to you before anything is actioned. Payment will be done by electronic bank transfer.
All your details are stored in our database for our sales team (digital and in-store) to verify your purchase and validity.
- ONLINE: Begin the claims process by getting in touch with us HERE. Add in all the details you can along with your order number to security check your policy. Please include pictures if you have. You can choose to walk-in to one of our regional stores or arrange collection with our team that may attract partial charges.
- IN-STORE: Bring in your damaged luggage to one of our regional stores. Our sales team will validate your KlapProof subscription from details provided (even if online). If we cannot repair your luggage while-you-wait then we will advise you when ready for collection. You may also request a special delivery but this may attract a service charge according to the size, volumetric weight and destination of your location.
